It started with a real life problem. One day, Jessica Fine said,, she helped a girl find an apartment. She was out on the street and I had helped her basically get into an apartment with all of her utilities done. We had all had to do this in one day. We did pull it off for this girl. Now she s back up on her feet and she s actually graduating college. And ever since then I wanted to make sure that I could help anybody else. That experience was the inspiration behind St. Ann s Relief Program, oakley, according to Fine, who is program director. Father Denis Ssekannyo currently oversees the program,httP://, but it was Father Paul Kado who helped Fine get the idea off the ground. I came to Father Paul with an idea that I was tired of seeing us turn away people because we didn t have the time to help them or we didn t have the resources to help them, she said. The program took about a year to prep and to get it together because I had to get it approved by the diocese to make sure that what we were doing was OK. And it got approved and we re here. She explained the program. Basically what it does, oakley glasses, if people are in need of places to go to try to fix the problems that they have, if they don t know where to go or what to do they can come and see me,cheap oakley sunglasses, I will look up online or use my knowledge of the community to try to get them to fix the problem and fix the problem in the future. Potential clients fill out a multi-page form listing information on needs, household members, oakley sunglasses, better when there, budget, expenses and employment.Everyone, however, is eligible for help, according to Fine. We don t discriminate. It doesn t matter who you are. It doesn t matter how much money you make or how much money you don t make or anything like that. It does not matter at all. You come in here with a problem and we try to help it, we try to fix it, we try to figure out what the plan is, where to go from here. Sometimes people s resources run out and we have to find back doors, but Texas A M was able to sco, she said. There wasn t anything in the community like this unless you qualified for certain things. Here you can just come in. She provides referrals to resources such as the Salvation Army, the Women s Center High Desert, SCE s care program, and other resources. In addition the program assists people in making calls. Something as simple as calling and making payment arrangements is so hard for some people, you d be amazed. People get bills and they freak out because its late and everything and they don t understand that they can do that kind of stuff and so when they come in, we basically go through the process with them.Page 2 of 2 - All the utility companies know my name now, she said with a laugh.Problems range from short-term to longer issues. It can be a quick fix for some people, but some people I ve been working with for months. Fine said she tries to provide some sort of assistance to everyone who comes in. So, even if I can t help with money or bills or anything like that if they re down on their luck and they don t have a job,a UNESCO World Heritage Site, I ll print them out some employee places that they can go to do that type of stuff here in town. And we always say that they never leave with nothing. They always leave with something. SARP is a natural fit for Fine. She is Director of the Youth Program at St. Ann s and studied health and human services in school. I love it, she said of helping others help themselves. This is what I went to school for. And this is where my heart is I love this stuff.
